{"id":6937,"date":"2022-04-26T11:37:00","date_gmt":"2022-04-26T11:37:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/huebner.io\/?p=6937"},"modified":"2023-04-07T12:14:45","modified_gmt":"2023-04-07T12:14:45","slug":"how-to-see-the-real-goal-and-create-a-pull-on-the-path-to-get-there","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/huebner.io\/en\/2022\/04\/how-to-see-the-real-goal-and-create-a-pull-on-the-path-to-get-there\/","title":{"rendered":"How to see the real goal and create a pull on the path to get there"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In my Monthly Inspiration newsletter, I asked readers what their main leadership question is at the moment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>They said: How do people see the real goal and take an easy path to get there?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Here's the&nbsp;<strong>5-Step framework<\/strong>&nbsp;I used to achieve goal-orientation with my team.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-6ee98754cc53430ab14aa1f1ec48d716\"><strong>Step 1: Create pull<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Most managers think that you have to get people to work on their goals by pushing them.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead, I want you to think of asking people what they really want.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you do this, here are the results you can expect:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Identification<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Commitment<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Passion<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-b0336a9f7a864e3d9aed3b1b48a47532\"><strong>Step 2: Collectivize<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Once you've created a pull for goals, you'll likely ask how these support your business.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Instead of announcing company goals, I encourage you to ask about contributions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Why?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Because if you ask people how they can contribute, they will own the success.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-c69f7f7a498d42b99a3dc06c6960fe43\"><strong>Step 3: Think about purpose<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>After you've successfully created a pull and defined contributions, it's time to talk about impact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Step in the shoes of your customers and communities<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Define what you want to change in their life<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>See how this improves the world.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-59a096d670be4fb69fd4c9eaccd2a2da\"><strong>Step 4: Make it a habit<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>At this point, you're now ready to get to practice.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>If you did Steps 1-3, it should be easy to start a quarterly routine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Just don't forget:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Let the team work on quarterly objectives<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Let purpose guide the process<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Be part of the team!<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"block-f0a7f00db69140a2b84abde357a0b1f3\"><strong>Step 5: Measure results<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>That's it! Now it's time to make the goals concrete.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Tip 1: Quantify the best possible results you can imagine.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tip 2: Be sportsmen in achieving the results.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Tip 3: Make others part of the team: customers, management, communities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The reason this framework works so well is because it's&nbsp;<strong>a pull process<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So, don't fall into the trap of pushing people to achieve goals.<\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In my Monthly Inspiration newsletter, I asked readers what their main leadership question is at the moment.
