TFF #12: From hidden champion to visible star: your path with storytelling, AI and the dual mindset

Today we are delving into a topic that many of you are familiar with: You do great things, you have innovative products and dedicated teams - but you often lack the visibility you deserve. At the same time, the VUCA world challenges us every day to manage the existing efficiently and to boldly try something new.

Our goal for this newsletter is clear: It's about empowerment, practical applicability and looking ahead, always with the aim of making your SME more successful and your working environment better.

From hidden champion to visible star

The reality of many SMEs - success in disguise

Do you know this? Your company is a real "hidden champion" - full of expertise and passion, but somehow under the radar of the general public. Many SMEs, and start-ups in particular, do great things but struggle with visibility. This became particularly clear to us again last week during our appearance with MMIND.ai on Open Hub Day of the Impact Hub Zurich. We have our Workshop "Pitch Perfect with AI" and showed live how startups can use the "AI Storyteller" from the MMIND Workspace The topic was met with great interest, as young companies in particular need to get to the heart of their often groundbreaking ideas quickly.

The challenge is enormous: The average human attention span is just 8 secondsas a Microsoft study shows. You have to be convincing in this short time!

In addition, the current VUCA world (volatility, uncertainty, complexity, ambiguity) places many demands on companies. A insightful conversation about this we recently had at RUUF in Schaan with entrepreneurs from Liechtenstein. In the Tension between people - process - tools It becomes clear: if you want to be successful in the age of AI, you need a clear strategy and balance at all levels. It is not enough just to be efficient in day-to-day business (exploit); you also need the courage to try something new and shape the future (explore).

The goal - visibility, focus and lived potential

Just imagine: Your SME is visible. Your messages are getting through. You attract the right customers and talent. Internally, there is clarity about the strategic direction. The focus is perhaps more on people and their potential, and the "dual mindset" - the ability to both master the core business with excellence and to take innovative leaps - is lived and supported. Your stories captivate, your ideas convince, your company grows sustainably.

Your path to visibility and success with the dual mindset & AI

How do we get from "Hidden Champion" to "Visible Star"? Here are the key pillars:

Implement the "dual mindset" in your organization

Many SMEs are struggling with this, creative discovery ("Explore") and the efficient optimization ("exploit") under one roof. Exploit mode often dominates. The trick is to create an organization that can do both and switch intelligently depending on the context. This requires:

  • People: Employees who understand and apply both ways of thinking. Create room for experimentation and a learning culture in which mistakes are seen as data points.

  • Process: Flexible processes that support both experimentation and efficiency.

  • Culture: A culture that offers security for new ideas and values reliability in the core business. Values must support both!

  • Purpose: A clear corporate purpose that gives both modes direction and energy.

Use AI sensibly for your storytelling and creativity

Precisely because the attention span is so short, your stories need a clear structure and a convincing message. This is where AI can be a powerful ally:

  • AI-supported storytelling: As we were able to show in Zurich, our AI assistant can guide you through proven storytelling formats (such as Problem-Solution-Impact, Golden Circle or Before-After-Bridge ) in just 10-15 minutes and help you to create a fully formulated, target group-oriented story. For example, you can massively increase your pitch success rate, as a Swiss e-commerce startup has proven (from 10% to 40%!).

  • AI as a catalyst for ideas: Creative blockades in the team? AI can do far more than just generate text! Use it to develop alternative perspectivesplaying out "what if" scenarios, inspiring ideas visually with tools such as Ideogram or Midjourney, or recombining existing concepts, as I did recently with on LinkedIn have shared.
